There’s no shortage of window and door companies serving Springfield. Here’s what separates us:

On June 23, 1780, Springfield was the site of the last British invasion of the North. British forces under Hessian General Wilhelm von Knyphausen had advanced from Elizabethtown at 5am that morning, intending to strike Washington’s Continental Army. General Nathanael Greene commanded the American defense. As the British pushed forward with infantry, cavalry, and field pieces, Colonel Israel Angell and his Rhode Island Regiment took a stand at the Rahway River.
For more than 40 minutes, Angell’s men held a force five times their size to a standstill. During the battle, Reverend James Caldwell — chaplain of Colonel Elias Dayton’s regiment, whose wife Hannah had been murdered by a British soldier at nearby Connecticut Farms only 16 days earlier — gathered Watts Hymnals from the First Presbyterian Church and distributed them to the soldiers for wadding, crying ‘Give Them Watts, Boys!’ Unable to advance further, the British burned Springfield. Only four houses survived. The American loss was approximately 15; British losses approximately 150. It was the last time British forces invaded the Northern states.
The Cannon Ball House, built in 1741 and used as a British hospital during the battle, stands today as a museum. The First Presbyterian Church at 210 Morris Avenue — burned by the British in 1780, rebuilt using much of the original structure — still stands along the historic corridor. The Continental Soldier statue in front of the church is recognized as the smallest state park in New Jersey. Springfield was formed as a township on April 14, 1794, and incorporated as one of New Jersey’s first 104 townships on February 21, 1798. Baltusrol Golf Club, located in Springfield, has hosted seven U.S. Opens — in 1903, 1915, 1936, 1954, 1967, 1993, and 2016 — making it one of the most storied golf venues in American sports. Jonathan Dayton High School takes its name from Colonel Elias Dayton, whose regiment Reverend Caldwell served as chaplain during the battle.
Springfield Avenue — originally called Seven Bridges Road because seven bridges were needed to cross the streams feeding into the Rahway River — is the township’s primary commercial corridor along with Morris Avenue. With a median household income of $146,059 and an established residential character across its 5.17 square miles, Springfield’s homeowners invest in properties where history and community stability go hand in hand. “Great price and service. Sales person didn’t push us hard on the “buy it now or lose the deal” angle the way other companies did. Installers did everything in a day. Windows looks great and they cleaned up after themselves.”
— Robin S., Union County NJ
“Very pleasant visit to our home to quote doors. Mike S. educated us about the door components, pros cons, pricing and practical aspects. No long sales pitch, no high pressure. The pricing slightly higher than I hoped but the quality of materials clearly best in class. I would do business with ACRE without hesitation.”
