There’s no shortage of window and door companies serving Scotch Plains. Here’s what separates us:

Scotch Plains was settled by European Quakers in the late 17th century and grew into one of the principal stagecoach stops on the route between New York and Philadelphia along what is now US Route 22. The community’s Revolutionary War history is preserved in three structures that still stand in its historic downtown. The Osborn Cannonball House — in Scotch Plains since 1777 and named for the cannonball embedded in its exterior wall from the Battle of Short Hills — saw both British and Continental troops march past its door during the Revolutionary War and now serves as a museum featured in Union County’s annual Four Centuries in a Weekend historic festival. The Scotch Plains Baptist Church, in the heart of downtown, holds a cemetery where original settlers and 24 Revolutionary War soldiers are buried. The Frazee House, constructed around 1720 to 1740, is remembered for Elizabeth ‘Aunt Betty’ Frazee — a prolific baker who turned away General Cornwallis and his troops when they marched up wanting her freshly baked bread during the British occupation. Her refusal is a celebrated local story of civilian defiance.
The Shady Rest Golf and Country Club in Scotch Plains is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the home course of John Matthew Shippen Jr. — the first African American golf professional to play in the U.S. Open, in 1896. Originally a private club and center for African-American social life in the township, it was acquired by the municipality in the 1930s and opened to the public as Scotch Hills Country Club. Malcolm E. Nettingham Middle School, constructed in the 1920s as Scotch Plains High School, was renamed to honor Malcolm E. Nettingham — a Tuskegee Airman who attended the original school — recognizing both the history of the school and the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen in American military life.
Scotch Plains was incorporated on March 6, 1878 as Fanwood Township, renamed Scotch Plains on March 29, 1917. Named one of the best places to live in New Jersey in 2023 by Niche.com, with its downtown nominated one of the best in the state by NJ.com readers in 2018, the township has maintained the quality of residential life that makes it a sustained choice for Union County families. With a median household income of $183,655 and 75.2% of housing units as single-family detached homes, Scotch Plains is one of the most established owner-occupied communities in Union County.
